Where to even begin. My Mom landed in the hospital

Where to even begin. My Mom landed in the hospital with pneumonia 3 years ago, then rehab for 10 days of IV antibiotics, where she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. (And that is a totally different story) She started out in a Nursing Home, and I got her moved to a personal care facility in a little apartment, and besides eventually being moved to the locked Alzheimer’s Unit, she stayed there for over a year. After a fall, she broke her hip, and being unable to follow simple directions, during rehabilitation to rebuild her strength, she simply never stood up again. So she was admitted to the second Nursing Home. She was stuck in a fancy chair with lots of cushioning. For just over a year we had a great experience at this home. As of December 2019 she no longer lit up when I walked into the room. She didn’t know me anymore. But...every visit for 3 years I played her and my Dads song for her, in her ear. “Loving You” by Elvis Presley, and even on my last visit back in February like every other, as soon as she heard the song she cried, she reacted, and she tried to tell me it was their song and how much she loved him. Music leaves an imprint on our soul for sure. Then Covid hit and I wasn’t able to see her. I was really worried she would die before I got to see her again. I even had bad dreams about it regularly. And since I couldn’t visit I didn’t see her declining. I received a call one morning that they were recommending Hospice for her, I spent one day on the phone connecting with them, and then that night about 9pm I got the call to hurry in to say my last goodbyes. I had to wear a gown, mask, shield, and gloves, and I had 10 minutes to visit. It was a difficult visit. At 4:05am on June 24th she passed away. Compounding this is the fact that my brother died on May 26th, so they both left this world within 1 month of each other. Can you be 61 years old and feel like you were orphaned, the answer is yes. That’s the short story! It’s been a very long, emotionally draining 3 years. Every decision was a difficult one. Now I feel an emptiness inside, that I will need to learn to navigate. I lost my Dad 8 years ago, and I feel like I miss him more everyday

A day spent under the Sun on the beach is what I need so badly and what I’m dreaming of. I wish, I wish I could get away from it all. Take a break, and drift off to that beach life. But I’m just too scared of Corona. So I’ll be right here, and under this deck is a shaded patio, where I will likely spend the Summer. Continue to send prayers my way, dealing with loss is one thing, but at a time like this, it’s even more challenging. Have a great day. .

Sharing my heart! 💙 I am blue, sad, confused, I feel like I’m in a dream. I really need some grace today, some peace. 2020 has been really rough for the entire world, but in the meantime people are also still dealing with personal issues, which just compounds the hurt and fear of what you’re facing. Because of fear it’s hard to be able to handle your situation, with no regrets in-spite of Corona Virus, but in a responsible way that keeps you safe while you get through your difficult time. It’s hard enough, and the Virus makes it even more of a challenge. But I know I need to do what I will be happy with. Asking for prayers in this most difficult time. I can’t even bring myself to type about it yet, it’s too fresh, too raw, but I will in time. Just coveting your sweet prayers right now, as I need them desperately. Thank you. Sharing my heart! 💙 I am blue, sad, confused, I feel like I’m in a dream. I really need some grace today, some peace. 2020 has been really rough for the entire world, but in the meantime people are also still dealing with personal issues, which just compounds the hurt and fear of what you’re facing. Seriously, it’s Monday again. I typically love Monday, but time is running out for us to get our Guest room and bath ready for company. And it’s been awhile, plus I always seem to take the long way, and do some unnecessary organizing on the way. I was in the middle of a few projects in there, which means I had a mess. I was about to put the projects on the back burner for the Summer anyway, so cleaning it all up for now. I’ll get back at it early Fall right before I repaint the kitchen. Have a great day. .

Remember I shared that time lapsed video of me changing the mantle, along with a before and after. Well this is after the after version. Just a few days later I took a look and decided to give it a little something more. I am not happy unless I’m moving something. And to be totally honest my Mantle is probably the thing I enjoy changing, most of all. I may add a few shells still since it’s now officially summer, but other than that it will probably stay as it is until the fall. I don’t know about you but I am in full-blown planning mode for Fall and Christmas. #CrazyTown .

Enjoying this moment. I wrote all that about Summer and how it feels like “just chillin” that is why I love the shore so much. It’s not because I want to go lay on the beach necessarily, but more that the beach is there, the people are just casually strolling around, no hurry to do anything. The breeze, the sand in the air that you can’t avoid, the sun and haze and at the same time the cool air, the birds and the sound of people and children chatting and laughing and just having fun, the clacking of the bicycle tires on the boardwalk and the waves crashing onto the shore. But think about Fall, it’s pretty amazing too, all the crunchy leaves, hayrides, apples in abundance, heirloom Pumpkins and Mums. And then Christmas, there literally isn’t a better time of year, it’s pure magic. The Winter months are some of my favorite, I love nesting and making my spaces cozy with throws and candlelight. Then Spring comes and everything seems fresh and new, all the flowers start to bloom and the earth gets greener as the temperature rises, next thing you know it’s Summer again. Just realizing how truly blessed we are in spite of all the troubles in the world today. Take it all in and make the best of it all.
