DIY-Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, an antique mirror

We found this small old mirror a few months back, finally a mirror that would fit on the small wall that I had in my foyer/hall. The only problem was that it was matted with red velvet. Remember I just spent the last few months removing tons of red from my home, so I thought a little makeover was in order.

Here is the before, the mirror is taped and ready to go.

This is roughly two coats of paint in Provence.

Now a coat of clear wax, Then a little detailed dark wax, just here and there, and finally, for fun, and to add back some of the old world charm I was attracted to in the first place, some gilding wax in Kings Gold, carefully applied.

And the finished mirror, in its place.

The bookcase below the mirror has its undercoat of, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, in Graphite, but will be getting another color layered on top, coming to the blog soon.

Small projects like this one, not only add some character around your home, but they can be a great jumping off point, to work up to painting a large piece of furniture.
