Vintage Dough Bowl addition

Tammys Blog 009a

When I began this journey of painting the living room white, and knowing that I wanted to add Navy Blue touches for the upcoming seasons, I had to think long and hard about what décor I wanted to add to this room. I only wanted a few Navy touches, I didn’t want it to be a Navy room. So I decided to keep the things I added very neutral, wood tones and gold to warm up the white. I found this beautiful dough bowl, and a Gold and Glitzy Brass Tray, over at Painted
Fox Treasures , the tray is on back order, but I will share it here and on Instagram when it comes. But check out this beautiful wooden bowl. I knew from the get go that I wanted to fill it with blue glass bottles, a collection I already had. But again I have many different ideas for this lovely bowl. There is nothing I love more than decorating with pieces that I can use over and over again in a multitude of ways, just keep reinventing it, and it feels new every time. Additionally, I love adding in those “Fancy Farmhouse Touches” into my Modern, Traditional Style, for some interest. I gathered a few things together and set them down in the room just to check the settings on the camera, and I loved the test pics so I thought I would share a few here. After I began the fun of figuring out where I would use the bowl, and trying it out in several places.

I had originally planned to add this bowl to my hearth, but since every bowl is a different size the one I got was too small for the hearth alone, by adding in some other bottles it gave it more of an impact.

Later I moved the bowl around a bit. We had bid on some Demi john bottles at the auction,  {these bottles in the wicker are also available at Painted Fox Treasures} and I knew we would be adding them in soon so I decided a pretty display on the dining room table would be lovely.

  1. I’m obsessed with dough bowls, too. They are such beautiful examples of sturdy workmanship and I love that they were intended for a practical purpose. I saw a 5-foot dough bowl the other day while out antiquing but could not think of where I would put it. It was a beauty!

    • Oh my goodness I would have never walked away. You could have leaned it up against a wall, or hung it up on a wall with a wreath inside, or set it on top of a hutch. Or taken a nap in it. ha ha I love them as well, I would like to start a little collection really.
