A Little Refresh in the Dining Room

Though I have loved and enjoyed my grey walls in the dining room, which are Cathedral Stone from Lowes, my eye just seems to want to see white right now. I am defiantly leaning toward lighter, brighter, cooler, icy colors, in the last couple of years. Since I was going to be purchasing the paint for the family room makeover, I decided to give this room a fresh update, in the same color, which is Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore in Eggshell. It wouldn’t take much, since there is wainscoting on the bottom and the hubby already painted the ceiling a few months back to match the living room. So, here we go, lets see how big of a difference it makes. Here is the after.

…..and before.

Both are lovely in there own way, but I am in love with the white. It just makes such a pretty backdrop for everything else. So I guess it just depends on what you want to be the focus, the color on the walls or the things hanging on the walls.

I always love adding a mirror into the mix, especially a vintage one, when balanced out with some modern touches, I think everything feels romantic and a little like a fairytale.

The chandelier I bought a few years back from Joss and main, really pops now, as well as my Navy Velvet curtains from West Elm. I had been on the search for a more modern carpet for this room, but I just couldn’t find anything I loved, loved. So……I changed my mind, like that’s never happened before. We drug the large jute carpet from the living room into this room, since it is so neutral, and I picked up something different for the living room.

You know I love antiques, that is no surprise, I would take something vintage any day, over something new. My favorite look of course is mixing the two. Too many antiques can look old lady, so I find a fresh, modern, vintage vibe, by mixing the two, the best. This armoire is one of my favorite pieces, we just kind of stumbled into it one day, and it said to me” take me home” and so I did. Dare I say, yes, It is my absolute favorite antique piece, that I own. I love how it really shows up now against this bright white wall.

Still two gallons of this paint left to paint the Family Room, this makeover is taking a little longer than I planned, isn’t that always the case. I need to finish that painting, a little project back there, then get carpet ordered and installed, boo hoo I wanted tile. Then the fun part, layering in all the goodies I have waiting in the wings. Check back soon for that big reveal.

Thanks for Stopping by the Blog, and sharing in my journey through this old house.
