Christmas Table Scape

Well its that time again, time to set the table for another table scape, this time for Christmas. Setting a table is one of my favorite things to do. I just really enjoy playing around with layers and layers, of dishes and textures and colors. But if you are like me, even on any regular day, I never know what to do with the centerpiece when we are using the table. In our house our dining room table is the only table. So unless we are eating in our family room, which my husband and I do quite often, I need to move the center piece, to use the table. A lot of the times I end up moving it to the floor, which then looks like clutter, and really bugs me.

This year I decided I wanted to try something that would make moving the table decor a little easier. I have loved and collected table top trees for thirty years. At one time I displayed them above my kitchen hutch, then an armoire that once stood in our dining room, and this year, an antique general store counter we use as a sideboard. Well, I was thinking if I used trees on my dining room table, I could very easily move them into the sideboard display without making a big mess on my floor. It worked, and it worked so well, I will be thinking of how I can incorporate this idea into my everyday decor.

My daughter purchased this tablecloth at Ikea and it was too narrow for their wide table, so I got it. Luckily I had already decided to add touches of red to my Christmas decor this year, so it was perfect.

I simply added in a few mercury glass trees, some layers of dishes, and these beautiful pomegranates I picked up at the grocery store. A few candles and it was perfect.

Here is how I then moved the trees back to the sideboard.
