This post is sponsored by Lamps Plus. However, I only partner with brands that I truly love, and all of the opinions here, are my own.
If you are like me you are packing up the last of Christmas, giving your home a New Years clean, and you are ready to bring on the new year, with a few new things. I am making some small changes in this room, to freshen it up very soon, and I can’t wait to share that with you.
If you remember I told you I love adding Modern touches to my spaces, to keep them fresh, and current. In particular I look for unique pieces of Art and Lighting. I have had this Floor Lamp in and out of my cart several times over the last two years, it is finally mine, and I adore it. You know how it goes. I already have something in my cart for my bedroom. YIKES
Anyway………you all wanted me to be more specific, about the process I go through when choosing pieces for my home, and what my thoughts are about the choices I am making, so let me show you an example of how I love mixing styles. I have these French inspired chairs in my Living Room, very romantic and I adore them. I love that the legs show, and because they are open underneath, it really opens up the room, so they don’t feel too heavy. They have beautiful curved soft edges, and look very dreamy. However, I love how adding this Modern light fixture, from Lamps Plus, right beside this chair, shakes things up a bit, with a mix of styles. The end tables which may be my favorite ever, are pretty chunky, but not super large. If I added a lamp to this table top, it would pretty much take up all the surface space. So this is the perfect spot for a floor lamp. But really, when is it not a perfect spot for a floor lamp? I am drawn to floor lamps for some crazy reason, can you have too many? This one in particular is, sleek in its design, with an angular arc arm that can extend over your seating area or in my case, this chair. I love the glass shade, and it pivots, so you can move it around. Additionally I love how the black, brass, and glass, have a bit of a masculine feel in my feminine space. This lamp has a very small footprint, so it works in an open area, like this one right in a doorway. The quality is unbelievable, and the glass shade, oh my goodness, I adore it. Let me also add that I love how this Lamp, works with the sconces in the Dining Room, they are different yet similar.
I have played with mixing styles for years, and I find the easiest way is to keep your furniture pretty traditional and or having clean lines. Then have fun by, adding the interest with layers of texture, Lighting and Art. And if you look hard enough, you will find Lighting that is Art.
Thank you, Tammy Damore
Lovely room. Could you please share your source for the wooden vase (?) on the mantle? Many thanks!
I am working on updating links, since I just had my blog updated. I will look into that, so check back.
